Sam Shepard

Born in Illinois in 1943, Sam Shepard is an American playwright, writer and actor. His play Buried Child received a Pulitzer Prize in 1979; other plays include Curse of the Starving Class (1978) , True West (1980) and A Lie of the Mind (1985). Shepard wrote Kicking a Dead Horse (2007) with both the actor Stephen Rea and the Abbey Theatre in mind.
