James McKenna
1933 - 2000
Born in Dublin, McKenna studied in NCAD in the early 1950s. He was founder of the Sculptors Institute and co-founder of Independent Artists. McKenna won the Macaulay Fellowship in sculpture in 1960. He established the Rising Ground Drama Group which produced several plays including At Bantry (Peacock 1967). His plays include The Scatterin’, The Battering Ram (1976) and A Dance of Time (1979).
