Baile | Eolas | Déan Teagmháil Linn
Seumus O'Kelly
The play centres on two matchmakers who conspire to marry off two of their relatives; a niece with one arm and a brother with prominently curved legs. They conceal the attributes of both parties from each other in order to get the contract signed. They almost succeed until a neighbour, Kate Mulvany, interrupts the negotiations and berates the matchmakers for their shameful behaviour. It emerges that Kate Mulvany has herself arranged a genuine match between the couple, who are aware of each other's physical deformities and perfectly willing to marry anyway.
